The Northeast Oregon Prescribed Burn Association (PBA) plans to implement a 6-acre prescribed burn on a private property approximately 6 miles south of Lostine on Wednesday, September 23rd. This is an approved and permitted burn. The burn will only be implemented under favorable weather conditions and will be monitored until all fire is extinguished. The burn will be led by a Certified Burn Manager. Oregon Department of Forestry will be on site and assisting with the burn.
Please do not report the burn as a wildfire if you see smoke in the air in the Lostine Canyon unless you have reason to believe the burn has become a wildfire.
The Northeast Oregon PBA is a coalition of landowners, community members, and supporting agencies and organizations that work together to implement prescribed fire on private lands to reduce wildfire risk, improve ecosystem health, and accomplish other landowner objectives. Individuals are welcome to participate in or observe our prescribed burns. No qualifications or prior experience required.
