Today, fire management officials on the North Fork John Day Ranger District are implementing prescribed burning on 800 acres in blocks C and D, within the Meadow Brook FTJ project area, located approximately 7.5 miles south of Dale and 14 miles northeast of Longcreek, just east of meadow brook summit.
Area residents along highway 395 and Dale may see smoke while prescribed burning operations are underway and anticipate smoke to be visible within the unit for several weeks after ignitions are completed. Fire managers will have multiple resources on site including a dozer, four engines and a 20-person crew. Crews will continue to monitor the burn until the prescribed burn is called out.
For questions about the prescribed burn, please contact North Fork John Day Ranger District at (541) 427-3231.
