Pile burning today: Wallowa-Whitman National Forest

Pile burning began this morning in the East Face of the Elkhorn Mountains near Anthony Lakes and in the Lostine Corridor of the Wallowa Mountains.  More info: http://bmidc.org/rx_fire.shtml

This fall, National Forest prescribed fire information is available to the public on a new interactive map.  It is color-coded to show the status of each burn unit (planned, active, or completed) within the Malheur, Umatilla, and Wallowa-Whitman National Forests.  For the convenience of hunters, mushroom collectors, and other forest users, last year’s completed burn units can be viewed along with State wildlife management boundaries.
