Wallowa-Whitman National Forest will engage in prescribed fire operations this week as weather conditions allow. If conditions warrant, scheduled prescribed fire activities may be canceled.
Planned locations include:
- Little Dean 13D – 234 acres near McEwen
- Sandbox 605 – 200 acres near Union
- Deer 6 – 51 acres near Sumpter
- Limber Jim 603 – 31 acres near La Grande
- Muddy Sled 501G – 247 acres near Enterprise
- Additional locations will be posted on InciWeb the Incident Information System
These areas may close to the public for several days for
public safety. Watch for warning signs along roads near all prescribed fire
areas before and during burns. When driving, slow down and turn on your
headlights when you encounter smoke on the road.
